Hello,

Well I’ve not posted in a little while, that’s because I have a reason not to.  My girlfriend no longer uses the bus to work, because she no longer goes in to work.  She has stopped now for maternity leave.   Work will recommence with required bus trip activity in September 2009.  Until then I don’t think there is likely to be *many* trips on the bus at all… but any that do happen, maybe I’ll make a ‘guest post’ (even unscheduled shopping trips on the bus maybe!)

Well the bus was quite busy and the kid got on first and went towards the back of the bus. then she got on with the pushchair and was shouting ‘Callum, sit down!!’ which he was trying to do at the back of the bus!! So he came back down the bus towards her and didn’t know where to sit cos there was no space. During this time she’s told him to sit down at least 4 times. Then she pointed to a seat and said, ‘Here, you sit down there’ so the kid sat down and she dragged him up and said, ‘Not you! Let this man sit down there, you go and sit there’ and pointed to a seat at the back of the bus!!!!!

She stayed near the front where there’s more space for prams etc.
Poor kid. He wasn’t upset by it though, just took it all in his stride. Then she passed him his book bag and shouted at him for opening it. Then she had to keep shouting down the bus for him to shut up cos he was making singing noises.
When they were getting off (at my stop), she stood up off one of those fold down seats and it made a big squeaking noise and Callum goes, ‘Ugh, Muuuuummm!!!!’ , ‘Mother! Was that you?!’ hahahah. She wasn’t impressed.

This bloke that had on a long leather ‘matrix’ coat sat next to me for the last bit of the trip in. We were just getting to St Marys Butts when he sneezed into his hands…and then looked. GROSS. Doesn’t he know you’re suposed to just discretely wipe them on your trousers and hope there were no bogies?

My new book is good. It’s about this woman who runs a vegetarian cafe in Bath. She’s preggers but doens’t realise yet and her boyfriend is away travelling for a year.

It was DEAD annoying.
I was sat in front of these 2 women, who I think were mother and daughter, moaning on about headaches and Neurofen.
THEN someone they knew got on and sat across the aisle and joined in the conversation in an even louder voice than they had.
Then someone ELSE they knew got on the bus, with a little kid so the kid came trotting down, sat on the knee of the one behind me, kicking the back of the seat and sneezing (and probably snotting) all over the place. So instead of the women’s inane conversation I had to listen to them all repeating what the kid said in really patronising voices and asking did it like school etc.

I couldn’t concentrate on my book at all. I read about 4 pages.
They eventually got off at my stop

Trip was OK I suppose. At least my ticket worked today!!
Had that smelly Chinese woman form the other week next to me again, made me feel a bit ill.
And she kept elbowing me.

Got to the bus in plenty of time this morning so didn’t need to rush and get a stitch.

This chinese woman sat next to me and she stank of something foody/cleaning related. It was horrible. AND her phone kept beeping annoyingly. Then she put some headphones on and kept laughing at various moments. And nudging me.

She got off at Duke street which is only 2 stops before mine so not much respite.

Trip in was ok, yeah it was a bit quieter.

Had the usual annoying elbowing for about 5 minutes when someone sat down next to me.

As we were getting close to my stop, the bus went past some workmen. One of them was digging the road up just at the edge of the pavement. The bus didn’t give him any space at all and almost took his head off with the wing mirror!!
He leap back enormously when he noticed (cos he had ear mufflers on and didn’t hear the bus) and jumped on top of this bloke walking to work.
It was quite funny in a sitcom kind of way but I bet the workman (and the other bloke!) was a bit shaken.

It was ok but the bus got in a bit later than usual though.

The driver did that thing you hate where he was stopped behind a parked car to let someone off then indicated and moved out…just as a car was overtaking. So the car braked and beeped and the bus driver (foreign, so do the accent) goes, ‘I am giving the indicators! I cannot see that!’ and beeped back at the car as it went past. COMPLETELY in the wrong. I mean, what was the car supposed to do? Let the bus just cut him up?! The bus driver should’ve waited a few seconds if he couldn’t see to give people time to pass.

The woman sat next to me kept nudging with her elbows aswell which was irritating. Dunno why people can’t just keep their arms still instead of fidgeting all the time – fiddling in her bag, glasses off, flicking hair, glasses back on, putting bag down, flicking hair again, scratching nose, folding arms, etc, etc. None stop. Oh and whiney kid was on too being a brat.

So, usual kind of trip in.

My girlfriend uses several local Reading buses during the week, different ones each day depending whether she gets on near home, or closer to where I work.  This blog is going to describe some of the fun stuff that appears to happen on these trips.. The morning trips are usually the strangest – please read .. you’ll be amazed or amused
